At Peris we are celebrating.
Not only because this year we celebrate our 80th anniversary, but also because we have closed the best gourmet melon season in the last five years. This 2024 we have increased the production of our Vicentín gourmetmelon by 109% compared to last year.
This has allowed us to bring to market more than 500,000 kilos of this select melon, one of our most prized jewels.
And not only that, we have also resumed production of our 18 Carat melon, an even more exclusive product, with a total of 25 thousand kilos harvested.
Last year we were unable to produce it due to weather conditions, but this year we have more than made it.
The secret behind this great season
Achieving this success was no accident.
We have taken great care of our crops to minimize the effects of high temperatures and avoid excessive sun exposure.
The process has been meticulous, from seed selection to the use of sustainable techniques that care for and nourish our soils.
We have given the fruit the time it needs to grow and ripen properly on the bush.
And the result is plain to see: quality and production volume have gone hand in hand.
Of our entire domestic melon production this year, 22% has been gourmet melon, a percentage that we have not reached for five years and which undoubtedly marks a milestone for Peris.
Watermelon Vicentín and fresh-cut melon: in constant growth
We do not only excel in melons.
This year we produced 3.4 million kilos of watermelon, of which 6.5% was for our exclusive Vicentín label.
And if we talk about our fresh-cut fruits, the trend is also very positive.the trend is also very positive.
In 2024 we produced 400 thousand kilos of melon and 700 thousand kilos of watermelon in cut, halves or quarters, which represents 13% more melon and 40% more watermelon than last year.
