At Vicente Peris we have been committed to sustainability for years and we know that every small gesture counts. That is why, in 2024, we have taken another step forward in the reduction of plastics in our pre-prepared convenience products, optimizing both labels and packaging. The result: more than two tons of plastic less in the last six months.
But this is just the beginning. By 2025, we expect to double this figure, moving towards even more sustainable solutions without sacrificing the quality and freshness that characterize us.
More sustainable labels: from plastic to paper
Until now, our labels were made of polypropylene, but we have now switched to paper and a removable adhesive, which facilitates the correct separation of materials. In just a few months, we have reduced 40 kg of plastic, and by 2025 we expect to eliminate 850 kg more.
Less plastic in packaging, more efficiency in transportation
We have also optimized our tubs, opting for lighter and more efficient options:
– Replacement of 11.7 g containers with 8.5 g and 9.7 g containers, reducing 966 kg of plastic.
– Reduction of 21.7 g tubs to 18 g, eliminating 1,193 kg of plastic.
In addition, these changes have allowed us to improve space utilization in boxes and pallets, optimizing logistics and reducing our carbon footprint.
Commitment to a more sustainable future
At Peris, we believe in the importance of acting locally to make a global impact. With these advances, we not only help the end consumer to better manage their waste, but also respond to the growing sustainability demands of our professional and retail customers.
We know there is still a long way to go, but we continue to work on new solutions to eliminate 100% of unnecessary plastic in our products. We will continue to report on each step, because sustainability is everyone’s commitment.
